Baltimore (Feb. 20, 2026) – Chase Brexton Health Care recently received a grant from the Horizon Foundation to support ongoing operations of the community health center’s Columbia location.
The $100,000 grant from Horizon will support ongoing access to primary medical care and support services for low-income populations in Howard County.
“We are keenly aware of the need for quality primary care in Howard County and all of the services associated with it,” said Chase Brexton Health Care President and CEO Patrick Mutch. “We are grateful for the Horizon Foundation’s continued support, which will help sustain our mission to provide compassionate, high quality and integrated health care that respects the unique needs of each patient and advances wellness in the communities we serve.”
Originally opened in 2006, Chase Brexton’s Columbia Center provides comprehensive health care services, including adult and pediatric primary care, behavioral health and substance use treatment, dental services, social services and case management, OB/GYN, and psychiatry, as well as a full-service pharmacy and lab.
The Columbia-based Horizon Foundation works side-by-side with the Howard County community to build power, advocate for policy change, and dismantle structural racism. It is the largest independent health philanthropy in Maryland, and serves as Howard County’s community health foundation.
"We believe that health care is a human right," said Nikki Highsmith Vernick, president and CEO of the Horizon Foundation. "We are grateful to partner with Chase Brexton to deliver quality primary medical care to Howard County residents with lower incomes, who historically have faced barriers in accessing care."
