    Clinical Training

    The Center for LGBTQ Health Equity at Chase Brexton Health Care offers coordinated clinical rotations in LGBTQ health to medical and dental residents and students. Gain an elite understanding of the unique health care needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and non-binary patient populations from one of the pioneers and leaders in LGBTQ health care.

    LGBTQ-Focused Learning Approach

    You will learn a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to LGBTQ health, with opportunities to train with specialists in the following areas:

    • Primary care
    • Behavioral health care
    • Gender-affirming care

    Our program balances an emphasis on clinical expertise and cultural competency, giving you the well-rounded skills you need to deliver welcoming, affirming, stigma-free care.

    Program Requirements

    Our clinical training program is highly competitive and receives a large volume of applications each year. Students who wish to be considered must meet the following requirements:

    • Minimum of 80 hours onsite learning for academic credit
    • Minimum of 20 hours onsite learning if not seeking academic credit
    • Resume
    • Interview
    • Background check*
    • Drug screen*
    • Proof of vaccinations*
    • A completed affiliation agreement between your school and Chase Brexton Health Care

    Provider Consultations

    If you need expert guidance in caring for a transgender, non-binary, or gender-diverse patient or patient community, The Center for LGBTQ Health Equity and Chase Brexton Health Care can help.

    As a volunteer provider with TransLine: Transgender Medical Consultation Service, we provide individualized case consultations and knowledge-sharing for providers across the country. Find answers to a broad range of clinical questions in the TransLine library, or submit your own question to be reviewed and answered by TransLine’s volunteer providers within two business days.
