Where to Go When You Need Help

Not sure where to go when you're sick or have a health concern? This quick guide will help you decide whether to contact your Primary Care Provider (PCP), go to Urgent Care, or visit the Emergency Department (ED).

emergencyCall 9-1-1 or go to the ED right away if you or someone else has:

  • Chest pain or trouble breathing
  • Severe stomach pain or continuing vomiting
  • Broken bones or dislocated joints
  • Deep cuts, major burns, or heavy bleeding
  • Suicidal thoughts or self-harm
  • Signs of a stroke or seizure
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Head or eye injuries
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Coughing or vomiting blood
  • Drug overdose or poisoning
  • Injuries from domestic violence or sexual assault
  • Babies needing immediate car
Urgent sprain

Go to urgent care for issues like:

  • Sprains or strains
  • Minor burns or rashes
  • Minor cuts that may need stitches
  • Mild allergic reactions or asthma symptoms
  • Painful or frequent urination
  • Abscesses, blisters, or minor skin infections
  • Nausea, vomiting, or dehydration
  • Chest & sinus congestion, coughing, & flu/cold symptoms
  • Fever & body aches
  • Insect or animal bites
  • Minor fractures & injuries that need to be seen with an X-ray
  • Minor car accident or workers' comp injuries
