Substance Use Treatment Program

Chase Brexton’s Intensive Outpatient Program addresses the psychological, physical, and social aspects of the disease. Chase Brexton's addictions treatment program is offered at our Mt. Vernon and Glen Burnie Centers. Make your appointment today by calling 410-837-2050 ext. 8807. 

Patients are assessed during an intake evaluation for their appropriate level of care. A treatment plan is agreed upon, and referrals given as required.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

  • Phase I: The purpose of the group is to provide a supportive and interactive setting to increase participants' knowledge about the characteristics of addiction to drugs/alcohol, and provide basic, practical skills to help them obtain and maintain abstinence from their use. It is appropriate for anyone with a history of chemical dependency who is interested in maintaining abstinence from all substances. All clients in IOP will receive weekly, individual counseling in conjunction with groups. Currently, IOP group meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Mt. Vernon Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Note: As of March 2020, IOP groups are on hold until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)

Traditional Outpatient Program (TOP)

  • Phase II Group: The purpose of the group is to provide a supportive and interactive setting to explore the origin of participants' addictive behaviors, educate participants on relapse prevention strategies, and apply those strategies to daily life. Participants must have maintained at least 30 days of abstinence from all substances to be eligible for this group. Outpatient group counseling takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Center. (Note: As of March 2020, IOP groups are on hold until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)
     
  • Phase III Group: The purpose of the group is to provide a supporting and interactive setting to identify, develop and practice sober life skills in recovery, provide continuing education on relapse prevention strategies, and apply those strategies to daily life. Participants must have maintained at least 60 days of abstinence from all substances to be eligible for this group. The group is held Mondays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Center. (Note: As of March 2020, IOP groups are on hold until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)
     
  • Evening Traditional Outpatient Program (TOP): The purpose of the group is to provide a supportive environment and interactive setting focused on exploration of the client's origin of addictive behaviors, the development of insight into the motivation for such behaviors and the development of coping skills and strategies for changing addictive behaviors. The group is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Note: As of March 2020, IOP groups are on hold until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Substance Use

If you are interested in medication to help support you in your recovery process, whether you are currently a Chase Brexton patient or not, you should first contact us at 410-837-2050 x8807.

What is Medication Assisted Treatment, or "MAT"? MAT covers a number of prescription medications that can help in the treatment of opiate use. Opiates can be prescription drugs, like Percocet and Oxycontin, or illegal drugs, like heroin. Medications may include different types of formulas that include buprenorphine (such as Zubsolv, Suboxone, Naltrexone or Subutex) or other medications such as Vivitrol, Naloxone or Acamprosate.

How is it used at Chase Brexton? We promote substance use treatment as an integrated part of overall healthcare. In order to be a part of the Medication Assisted Treatment program, you must be a Chase Brexton medical patient, as well as participate in our substance use program.
