·Keep track of any fresh items in the fridge and their shelf life, take advantage of your freezer!
·Make use of leftovers and repurpose them into new meals
·Only buy and prepare what you will use in a certain amount of time
·Save veggie scraps in a large freezer safe bag until full, and use this to make vegetable stock
·Buy items in bulk that you will use in larger quantities
·Take leftovers home when eating out
·Store food appropriately to extend shelf life
·Keep food that has a shorter shelf life in the front of the fridge/pantry, leave visible reminders

·Plan your meals and snacks
·Scan the fridge and pantry before going grocery shopping
·Shop for sale items
·Purchase canned and/or frozen items for even more budget friendly items
·Lean about community food resources such as SNAP, WIC, local food pantries, and more

·Replace meat with mushrooms, green peas, broccoli, cauliflower, artichokes, avocado, and asparagus
·Get rid of butter and add more oils such as avocado and olive oil
·Add beans (lentils, black, or chickpeas) to soups and salads
·Include quinoa and brown rice with your meals
·Add chia seeds and whole rolled oats to a sweet potato or smoothie
