Funds Will Support Primary Care Services Through June 2020

BALTIMORE (January 7, 2019) – Patients in need of primary care at Chase Brexton Health Care’s Easton Center will benefit from a generous $150,000 grant by CareFirst to support ongoing services to the Eastern Shore.

The grant award was presented to Chase Brexton President and CEO Patrick Mutch in Cambridge on Tuesday. The funds will be used through June 2020 to increase access to Chase Brexton’s comprehensive primary care services for patients in Dorchester, Talbot and Kent Counties.

“The ability to access affordable, comprehensive health care remains a huge challenge for residents of the Eastern Shore,” Mutch said. “These funds will help address that critical need and support Chase Brexton’s long-term commitment to serving this community.”

Chase Brexton’s Easton Center opened in 2005 to meet a critical need for accessible, community-oriented health care. Easton Center is home to the only HIV specialists on the Eastern Shore, and is the only clinic offering medical care for transgender individuals. The clinic saw 692 patients in 2018.
