WHAT IS A LACTATION CONSULTANT & WHAT DO THEY DO? 

A lactation consultant provides breastfeeding support and education to help parents become more comfortable and successful with breastfeeding. As an IBCLC, Carolina Pimenta is among the most highly-trained, trusted, and respected lactation consultants.  

WHAT CAN A LACTATION CONSULTANT HELP WITH? 

A lactation consultant can help you with what you need to know. They can help you with breastfeeding questions or concerns about:

• starting or stopping breastfeeding
• if your baby is getting enough milk
• taking medications or supplements
• flat or inverted nipples
• breast surgery
• breast infections
• engorgement (when breasts are too full),and/or blocked milk ducts
• pain or soreness in your breast or nipples
• nursing when you are sick
• trouble latching (getting the baby to attach to the breast)
• problems with milk supply (too little or too much)
• pumping milk and/or going back to work
• breastfeeding multiple babies or children of different ages
• baby’s weight gain too slow or too fast
• baby has tongue-tie or a cleft lip or palate
